My ten-year-old son purchased an old laptop computer at a garage sale for $2.00. We both figured it would make a good take-it-apart-and-see-how-it-works project. To our surprise, the old beast still worked. My son used it for several months until the hard drive finally died. In the usual way of children and parents, my son asked me to fix it.
The hard drive was a lost cause, but as I tore the machine apart, I was more and more impressed. I was amazed how sturdy and well-designed it was. I figured I should at least be able to get it to work from the floppy drive. It looked like it should be possible to add a second floppy drive where the hard drive used to be.
When I searched the Internet for information, I found more questions than answers. There are a lot of these old classics still out there, but very little information. This web site is an attempt to consolidate all of the information that I have been able to gather, and make it available for other interested users.
